DNS TTL의 이해와 활용 ?

TTL(Time To Live) - TTL은 DNS 레코드의 변경사항이 적용될 때까지 걸리는 시간(초)을 결정하는 DNS 레코드 값으로 A 레코드,MX 레코드, CNAME 레코드 등 도메인의 각 DNS 레코드에는 TTL 값이 함께 적용되어 사용하게 됩니다. DNS에 사용되는 TTL(Time To Live)의 이해를 위해서는 먼저 사용자가 웹 브라우저에 www.codns.com 도메인을 입력한 후 enter를 눌렀을 때 어떻게 해당 정보가 도달하게 되는지를 살펴볼 필요가 있습니다,
① 아래의 그림과 같이 먼저 사용자 PC의 hosts 파일 또는 미리 저장된 DNS캐싱 정보로 해당 도메인을 연결하거나, 없을 경우,
② 사용자 PC/공유기 등에 세팅 된 통신사/기관의 캐싱 DNS서버로 1차 질의,
③ 최상위 ROOT 네임서버 에서 하부 .com 네임서버로 이동하며 다시 www.codns.com의 네임서버를 찾게 되며, 코디엔에스 네임서버인 ns.codns.com에서 www.codns.com에 대한 정보를 검색(( Recursive Query))한 후
④ 사용자에게 최종적으로 해당 DNS 레코드의 캐싱정보가 전달되는 구조로 이루어집니다.
![](/image/3455.png) 이때 TTL은 타 네임서버가 해당 도메인의 정보(예, www.codns.com=1.234.37.233)를 메모리상에 임시 저장하는 시간(캐싱)- 도메인 정보의 생존 시간-으로 프로그램이나 브라우저에서 도메인을 입력할 경우, 먼저 컴퓨터의 임시 저장된 주소 정보에 묻고,만약 저장정보가 없으면,등록해놓은 DNS(보통 해당 통신사의 DNS)를 통하여 주소정보를 받아 IP로 연결하게 되는 것입니다.
전용선 등과 같이 고정IP를 이용하는 도메인의 경우는 TTL값은 최대한 길게 잡는 것이 유리하며(권장 값 : 3600), 유동아이피의 경우는 TTL값을 최대한 줄여주는 것이 좋습니다.(권장 값 :120)
